5 TIPS ON HOW-TO THRIVE IN 2021 AND THE TOOLS TO HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN!


 

If you're reading this, then you managed to survive the Final Level of Jumanji: THE YEAR OF 2020, congratulations! As survivors I believe we are destined for one objective in The Year of 2021, which is to THRIVE.


A few weeks into The New Year and the determination to execute notorious New Year’s Resolutions seems to be holding up more consistently than previous years, REDEMPTION oozing from societies pores- and I love to see it!


I personally don't do a "New Year's Resolution", because in the past I have time and time again set myself up for failure by making the resolutions unrealistic. I finally learned what works best for me when approaching The New Year, which is asking myself the questions: “What do I want to improve on? What can I do, or what tools can I use, to help improve myself day-by-day?” It's all just another opportunity for me to grow into a more patient, confident, and wiser version of myself I envision becoming.


With the list I’ve compiled below, you'll find the tools necessary for achieving whatever it is you've set out to achieve in 2021- Let's get started!


 

1. CREATE A ROUTINE AND SET GOALS THAT SUIT YOUR LIFESTYLE:

A routine is ultimately a "foundation" that gives an outline for stability to fall back on for day-to-day execution of the day's goals and plans. Everyone's definition of "routine" may not look the same, so be sure not to compare yourself to others. Most importantly, be realistic with yourself and create a routine that works for YOU- there is no "right" or "wrong" way here, so take a deep breath and make it your own.

2. IMPLEMENT A WEEKLY EXERCISE REGIMEN AND FORM ACCOUNTABILITY:


It is recommended that an individual should perform moderate exercise at least 5-times a week for 30-min a day, OR 75-minutes of vigorous exercise throughout the week. Here are a few exercise options that you can make as moderate or vigorous as you'd like: yoga, group exercise class, run, strength session with weights, hiking, rock climbing, At-Home Exercise videos, etc. I encourage hiring a Personal Trainer/ Health Coach (I'm not just saying this because I happen to fall into these categories, but hey.. if the shoe fits, haha) to help get you established in a routine, and to have an accountability partner.

3. FIND A BALANCE IN LIFE FOR YOUR DAILY NUTRITIONAL NEEDS:


The key to success is BALANCE in life. When it comes to nutrition, "Diet Fads" a.k.a. "Unnecessary Extreme Measures" are typically chosen, which sets up the path opposite of success. I'm not a fan of the word DIET because this word immediately floods the mind with negativity that is typically centered around what foods you can't have. Our individualized daily nutritional needs should include balance WITH the foods we love. Once again, hiring a Personal Trainer/ Health Coach will help you find the perfect balance- Educating oneself is also beneficial and highly encouraged.

4. INVEST IN A DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND JOURNAL


I am a huge advocate for daily one-on-one time to read, write, and reflect with ourselves. This time spent alone is our fuel which is why it is so crucial to the maintenance of our mental health as we continue propelling forward each day in pursuit of our next goal to accomplish. Positivity, motivation, our relationships, etc. these are all of the things that help keep us motivating and yearning for greatness.

5. TREAT YO SELF WITH A SELF-CARE ROUTINE:


Book that spa appointment you've been putting off! We NEED time to ourselves, and NO it's not selfish to want that time alone, and NO it doesn't have to be expensive. This alone time is when we get to regroup and give our body the care and attention it deserves for working so hard. Whatever your definition of a self-care routine looks like, start implementing it TODAY! Block time out in your planner once or twice a week to rejuvenate yourself, so that you can continue striving forward towards success.
